Managed Firewall - Pricing Overview

Primus’ Managed Firewall Service is composed of three main components:

1. Firewall Device

The first step is to determine which firewall is required for your network configuration and estimated traffic levels. Refer to the comparison chart which provides detailed technical specifications and costs for the various Cisco security appliance firewall devices.

You have the choice of purchasing the firewall up front or renting the firewall on a monthly basis from Primus.

2. Annual Hardware Support

If you are renting the firewall from Primus, you do not need to purchase an annual hardware support package. Primus will take care of all support requirements for the rented device.

If you purchase the firewall, you must also purchase a Cisco Smartnet service contract. This service contract provides you with hardware replacement if your firewall fails, and it also allows Primus to upgrade the firewall to new versions of code as they become available. The service contract also allows Primus to contact Cisco's technical support department on your behalf to troubleshoot any technical problems which might arise with your firewall.

The 8x5xNBD contract will provide you with a replacement firewall direct from Cisco within one business day if your firewall fails.

The 24/7x4hr contract will provide you with a replacement firewall direct from Cisco within 4 hours if your firewall fails.

Primus also offers an optional "1 hour recovery service" which is in addition to the base Smartnet service. This service will provide you with a replacement firewall within 1 hour which you can use while you wait for the Smartnet replacement to arrive.

3. Primus Managed Firewall Service

The final component is Primus’ ongoing firewall management service. This service is outlined in detail at this location.

The price for this service is dependent on which firewall you are using and which optional features your firewall has installed (such as DMZ support, failover, etc).
